The Final 7 Days

Wedding Week Bridal
Beauty & Makeup Checklist

The operational week-of guide. Manage your timings, prioritize sleep, and coordinate your vendors.

Your 7-Day Wedding Week Beauty Plan

T

he week has arrived. The planning is over, and you are now in the operational execution phase. This week is notoriously exhausting for brides, with late-night functions, heavy jewelry, and constant socializing.

Your goal this week is to protect your skin barrier, ensure your bridal makeup artist is fully aligned on the daily schedule, and build massive time buffers into your day to account for the inevitable Indian wedding delays.

Wedding Week Makeup Preparation

Confirm Your Makeup, Hair & Arrival Schedule

Send a final WhatsApp message to your artist team detailing the exact room number at your venue. Ensure the room has a flat table setup and adequate natural light if possible. Confirm their arrival time based on when your photographer needs you fully ready.

If you have booked Airbrush makeup, confirm that power outlets are available near the makeup station for their compressor.

Coordinate Outfits, Jewellery & Draping Details

Ensure your heavy lehenga or saree is steamed and hung up the night before. Group all jewelry—including tiny accessories like bindi packets and safety pins—in a single, easily accessible bag for the draping artist.

Keep Your Skin & Hair Routine Stable

You will be wearing heavy makeup for consecutive days. To prevent massive breakouts, you must double-cleanse every single night to remove all foundation and eyelash glue. Follow this immediately with a heavy, trusted moisturizer. Hydration is key.

Communicate with your hair stylist about when exactly you should wash your hair (typically the night before the main event, not the morning of).

Prepare Your Bridal Beauty Kit

Hand over your touch-up kit to a designated bridesmaid. This kit should contain blotting papers, your exact lipstick shade, mints, and a mini translucent powder. Do not leave this task for the wedding morning.

Build Realistic Time Buffers for Each Function

Indian weddings rarely run exactly on time. Relatives will arrive late, photographers will need extra time for portraits, and the baraat may be delayed. Build a strict 60-minute buffer into your makeup schedule.

The Realistic Timeline

  • Hair & Makeup: 2.5 to 3 Hours
  • Draping & Jewelry: 45 Minutes
  • Bridal Portraits: 45 to 60 Minutes
  • Buffer Time: 60 Minutes

What to Avoid During Wedding Week

  • New Face Masks: Do not use any new, untested sheet masks or luxury creams the night before. An allergic reaction the morning of your wedding is catastrophic.
  • Sleeping with Makeup: Being exhausted after the Sangeet is not an excuse. You must double-cleanse your skin thoroughly every night.
  • Skipping Meals: Lack of food and water will result in a hollow, sallow complexion and dry, flaky skin that even HD makeup cannot fully conceal.

Frequently Asked Questions (Wedding Week)

Always wash it the night before, unless instructed otherwise by your hairstylist. Clean, freshly washed hair on the morning of the event is often too slippery and lacks the texture required to hold heavy updos or extensions.
Schedule all waxing, threading, and nail extensions 3 to 4 days before your first event. This gives any redness or inflammation ample time to completely subside.
Absolutely not. Do not use any new skincare product, no matter how expensive or highly recommended it is. The risk of an allergic reaction or breakout the night before your wedding is too great.
Your artist should arrive 3 to 4 hours before you need to be completely ready for bridal portraits. This allows buffer time for setting up equipment, hair styling, makeup application, and final draping.
Keep two spoons in the freezer or use a chilled jade roller every morning. Drink plenty of water and avoid excess sodium in the evenings. Let your makeup artist know so they can prep the under-eye area properly.
You must have your lehenga and dupatta steamed and hung before the artist arrives. Draping artists specialize in pinning and pleating, but they generally do not carry industrial steamers for heavy bridal wear.
Double cleanse every single night. Use an oil-based cleanser or cleansing balm first to melt away the heavy waterproof makeup, followed by your regular gentle foaming cleanser. Never sleep with makeup on.
Pack your emergency touch-up kit 2 to 3 days before the wedding and assign a designated bridesmaid to carry it. Do not leave this for the wedding morning when things get chaotic.
